Bollywood movies are popular for their masala, dramatic love stories, and of course, the songs. Not all such movies in Bollywood make good money often, but there are some movies that managed to bag crazy money and today I’m going to talk about them with you.
Let’s start from number 5.
Dhoom 3: Back in Action (2013)
With a great burden of expectations from it’s audience, “Dhoom” last time came up with Bollywood actors Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead in Dhoom 3. However, the story this time was not as impressive as it was in it’s previous two prequels, it succeeded to do good business in India, and collected 585 crores worldwide, which is not bad at all for a movie made with 175 Crore.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)
Released in 2015, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is based on a story of an Indian guy Bajrangi, helping a small girl to reunite with her parents from Pakistan, who accidently got separated from the family and left behind in India.
Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui were in the lead, introducing child actor Harshali Malhotra, who gained lots of praises for her cuteness.
Made on a budget of 90crores, the movie grossed 626 crores worldwide.
Baahubali: The Beginning (2015)
Baahubali was no doubt the most awaited movie of 2015. It was an epic historical fiction based movie, with lots of special effects in it. The visual effects in this movie were so rich, and the war sequences were depicted so realistically, that managed well to grab the attention of the audience.
Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah played the leading characters in the movie. With a budget of 120 Crores, movie grossed nearly 650 crores internationally.
Dangal is based on the real story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, whose character in the movie is played by Aamir Khan. It’s the inspiring story of Mr. Mahavir who taught wrestling to his daughters which was quite unlikely in India back then. The movie delivered a great message to empower women; and Aamir’s amazing transformation was also one of it’s highlights.
With Aamir Khan; Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar were the other stars of the movie.
The total cost of making “Dangal” was 70 crores. It collected little less than 370 Crores domestically, and collected almost the same amount outside India, hence grossing 741 crores internationally.
PK (Peekay) (2014)
Despite some religious controversies around, Peekay is so far the highest grossing movie ever made in the history of Bollywood.
Starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma, the storyline of Peekay moves around “PK“, the character from a different planet. The movie becomes quite entertaining when PK meets Jaggu (Anushka). Other stars naming Sanjay Dutt, Saurabh Shukla, and Sushant Singh Rajput were also the part of the movie.
